Our season begins with the Magical Unicorn Lake and Bounsea opening for the Easter School Holidays, starting on 28 March 2026. The Splash Park joins later once the weather warms up, with its grand opening planned for the weekend of 23 May 2026, weather permitting.

Open on weekends, public holidays, school holidays and sunny weekdays during term time. When the weather is especially good, we may add extra opening days. Please check our Opening Times page before your visit, as availability may change depending on weather conditions.

The Unicorn Quest is available daily from 11:00 am to sunset during the season.

We recommend arriving around 10 minutes before your session begins. This gives us plenty of time to check your tickets, so please have them printed or ready to show on your phone for scanning. If your booking includes tokens or other extras, you’ll receive these at the check-in point.

Stay seated at all times. No swimming or splashing.
No smoking or alcohol.
Be mindful of wildlife at all times.
Do not pick up or swap passengers.
Only enter and exit boats at the jetty.
Stay away from the lake edges.
Do not cross floating boundary lines.
Be considerate of other lake users.
Dogs are not allowed.
All children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

The Unicorn Quest experience lasts approximately 1 hour. You will be greeted by our team, who will explain the rules, provide a map and give you everything you need to solve the riddles. Your time begins once you depart from the jetty.

Unicorn Quest is a one-hour magical adventure for the whole family, set aboard the Unicorn Pedal Boats on the lake. Each boat seats up to five adventurers, who set sail together on a story-led quest across the water. At the start of the experience, every crew receives a map and a special quest bag filled with props and gadgets needed to solve imaginative riddles and challenges along the way. Families work together as they paddle, explore and uncover secrets, creating shared moments of fun and discovery. At the end of the quest, every participant receives their own adventurer’s certificate to take home and treasure.

Unicorn Quest is designed for children aged 4 and up. Younger children may need help from parents or guardians during the challenges, while older children, teens and adults often find the quest just as engaging and surprisingly challenging. This balance makes Unicorn Quest a true all-ages experience, where everyone can take part and contribute. For safety reasons, babies under 1 year old are not permitted on the boats.

Unicorn Quest combines imagination, teamwork and problem-solving into a playful outdoor adventure. Children learn to collaborate, think creatively and build confidence as they complete challenges together. The experience helps develop emotional strength, resilience and self-belief through meaningful play that stays with them long after the day ends.

Public toilets are located behind the park café.
First Aid assistance is available on site if required.

The lake is located at the back of Barking Parkland the access point is situated behind the café, next to the playground.

Barking Park is easy to reach by public transport. Local bus routes include 5, 62, EL1, EL2 and EL3. Barking Station is served by C2C, Overground and Underground services on the District Line. From the station, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the park. When you exit the station, turn left and walk straight ahead until you reach the main park gates.

There is no specific postal address for the Magical Unicorn Lake, as it is located within the centre of Barking Park.

You’ll find street parking nearby, as well as two car parks inside the park. A free car park is accessed via South Park Drive, with the entrance located between the allotments and the bus stop. For directions, use postcode IG11 8FF.

A paid car park is accessed via Longbridge Road through the main Barking Park gates. Use postcode IG11 8TA, which will take you to the building next to the main entrance gates. Simply drive through the gates to enter the car park.

There’s plenty to enjoy in Barking Park alongside the Magical Unicorn Lake. You can continue the fun at the Splash Park or head to Bounsea for a high-energy inflatable adventure, both located nearby. Families can also relax at the café, let children explore the playground, try out the skatepark, or enjoy sports facilities including tennis courts, a cricket field and basketball courts. The park’s beautiful gardens are perfect for relaxing walks and enjoying nature.

A very limited number of general tickets may be available on site, but on hot days they often sell out quickly. All purchased tickets are non-refundable; however, they can be rescheduled up to two hours before the session or event start time for any other convenient time during the season. It is the visitor’s responsibility to monitor the weather and decide whether conditions are suitable for their children.

If you arrive late for your Unicorn Boating Lake session, please don’t worry. Our team will do their best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.

Light rain does not usually affect the Unicorn Boating Lake. In cases of heavy rain or unsafe conditions, sessions may be delayed or rescheduled, and our team will advise you on the best option available.

If the weather forecast suggests rain, please reschedule your visit to an alternative date or time. You can make changes up to two hours prior to the start of your session.

If your session is cancelled, you will be notified as soon as possible and advised to reschedule it.

Yes. The Unicorn Quest offers a truly unique birthday adventure for children. Birthday guests simply board their unicorn boats and set off on a magical boating experience across the lake. You are welcome to bring small decorations and picnic-style food, and we are happy to store your cake in the fridge and play a Happy Birthday tune to help celebrate the occasion.

To book, purchase your ticket package online and select the birthday party option, adding your details during the booking process.

Children aged 8 and over may enjoy the Unicorn Lake birthday dventure independently on the water, allowing them to paddle and explore with friends. All children must still arrive with a responsible adult, who must remain on site for the duration of the visit.

For families looking to extend the celebration, you may also set up a picnic next to the playground or combine the Unicorn Lake experience with other Splashy Land attractions to create a full day of fun.

Yes, we would be very happy for you to bring guests to celebrate in the Splash Park. We allow for some small decorations supplied by yourself and picnic style food that you can bring. We are happy to store your cake in the fridge and play a Happy Birthday tune for your loved one. To proceed, simply just purchase your tickets online. Upon entry to the park please inform the manager on duty of your celebration.

We understand that the parties can be costly for parents. Please consider the option to set a picnic next to the playground (outside of the splash park boundary), and only bring kids to the splash for the session. There has to be 1 adult for every 5 visiting children. Alternative option is 30 min session at Bounsea, where kids 5 and over can attend unsupervised (please read details of age restrictions on Bounsea for individual sessions) .

While we are not responsible for lost or stolen items, no such incidents have been reported so far. Lost and found items are kept in the on-site Splash Park office.
